Quite simply, your aim is to increase the size of your "mote" by absorbing other motes. You propel yourself through space by thrusting dead matter behind you along the way trying to avoid destruction by attractors, repulsors and other motes hell bent on eating everything in their path. with similar abilities and goals as you.
Osmos will appeal to you depending on what you want from a game. As you progress through the levels and grow your more, both the gameplay and music have a surprisingly relaxing effect on the player. However, it will be a bit too chilled out and dull for those seeking something more action packed and interesting. The graphics are very limited and the gameplay does get repetitive after a while.
For those that want something a bit more relaxing than the average game though, Osmos will surely appeal.

Der Spieler muss mit einer im Weltraum schwebenden Lebensform andere absorbieren und dabei aufpassen, nicht selber gefressen zu werden. Die Lebensformen werden durch Kugeln dargestellt. Seine eigene Kugel bewegt man, indem man mit der Maus an den Rand der eigenen Kugel klickt. An dieser Stelle gibt die Lebensform Plasma ab und beschleunigt dadurch. So steuert man durch das All und verschluckt kleinere Kugeln und weicht größeren Kugeln aus.
Wildes Rumgeklicke ist dabei kontraproduktiv: Je mehr Plasma man für die Navigation abgibt, umso kleiner wird man wieder. Das Spiel gibt für jedes Level eine Aufgabe vor, die man erfüllen muss. Beispielsweise, dass man die größte Kugel auf dem Spielfeld wird.
FazitOsmos ist eine erfrischende Abwechslung. Das Spielprinzip ist originell und fordert sowohl Reaktion als auch den Verstand heraus. Besonders gelungen ist zudem die Hintergrunduntermalung mit entspannender Ambient-Musik.
